A good bookkeeper isn't just processing your receipts, they are also looking at ways your business could save money.

It all started with a typewriter. Straight out of school in the mid 80's, I began working for my father's newly founded engineering business. With guidance from his accountant, I learned the essentials of tracking transactions and since computers didn't exist in business back then, bookkeeping was entirely manual.

Today's bookkeepers set a few parameters on their accounting software and their invoices and statements are automatically generated but back then invoices and statements were all done by typewriter. Imagine manually typing your statements each month, every transaction, column and calculation done by hand. Any mistake meant having to decide whether to start over or use correction fluid...

The evolution of accounting technology has been remarkable. Today's automation can allow bookkeepers to focus more on analysis and strategy than the receipts, but the foundational skills, developed from necessity, still shape today's expertise. I always took pride in achieving "penny perfect" accuracy in manual bookkeeping and still enjoy the attention to detail.

In 2014, we sold the business after my dad's retirement and my desire to explore new opportunities. This led me to pursue a couple of exciting roles expanding my skills, but bookkeeping and supporting business owners stayed a constant. Eventually, I decided to take the leap and become a self-employed bookkeeper.

My goal is to provide business owners with the confidence that their bookkeeping is being handled with precision and care. Whether you are launching a new business or have years of experience, I aim to free up your time so you can focus on expanding and achieving your own business goals.

Reliable and professional support tailored to your needs is at the heart of my commitment.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband and teenage son, cooking, reading (I have a small library of books waiting to be read), eating out and trying to fit more plants in the garden.

My receipts were in a box and I was embarrassed to have left it so long to find someone to help me. Sarah was recommended to me and I couldn't be happier with her help, plus, she doesn't cost a fortune!
